I think the creator of this advertisement’s strategies was pathos, as they really get you emotional over this ad, as you see these two teenagers fall in love after the girl gave the guy a piece of gum; and you see them grow up together and go through the trials and tribulations of a growing relationship. At the end, it kind of tugs on your heart strings as you can’t tell if they are still together, but then you realize there are a bunch of framed gum wrappers with drawings of their relationship scattered throughout the room and then she turns around and he proposes to her. As the viewer, I felt relieved to be off the roller coaster of emotions. I find this advertisement very effective, because now when I go to the store and see EXTRA Gum; I think of this commercial and I am most likely going to buy this gum over others because it's what I am most familiar with.
