Unit 3 Reflection Argument - Ava Anderson
Before entering WRIT 101, I knew pretty much the basics about research and incorporating sources, such as checking their credibility through a citation website, and citing sources after they are stated in my writing. I was able to build upon these skills in the last couple of weeks of class by learning in depth on how to cite sources in the middle of an essay with a hyperlink, and I thought that this was super cool because it can just take the reader directly to the source you are citing instead of them having to look though the annotated bibliography for the specific link. I would say I need to still work on finding the most credible sources when it comes to finding reliable sources and using them effectively, as I sometimes feel like I trust the sources too easily without checking them first. What I found easiest about the research process was searching up my specific and tailored to my argument’ questions and finding the exact answers I was looking for; all because my argument was one that has been pondered by many others. What was most frustrating, however, was getting the same exact answer for each question, and having to dive deeper into other sources to find what I was looking for. What I learned that surprised me during the research process was that many people have struggled with the same or similar questions about tuition, and I never really saw anyone propose the idea that out of state tuition be matched with in state tuition. But the more I looked into it, I learned why it was so much more costly, and that led me to see a possible counterargument to my claims. If I had one more day to work on my writing project, I would probably add more information from the other side on why tuition needs to be so expensive, and possibly propose a solution to that instead of charging students so insanely much who come from a different state.
